As the world plunges deeper into chaos and immorality, some may be wondering; how did we arrive at this point and what is the path to societal destruction?  These perilous times are prophesied in the Bible, and it’s known as the End Times.  Christ stated that the End Times would be a combination of the time of Noah and of the time of Lot.   In order to achieve this level of unprecedented wickedness, there must be progression of chaos and immorality. Mankind has gone from divorce being normalized, to 40% of Gen Z identifying as LGBTQ+.  The Bible is clear on how the demise begins and where it ends.  This is not the first instance of humanity’s moral demise.  We’ve seen two distinct examples, one on a global level known as the Great Flood and the second example which was on a local level and it was the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.   Both examples share similarities in which the outcome of mans wickedness was his demise, as explained in Romans 1:18-32.

In the first example, God’s wrath was administered globally with a great flood that destroyed all living things except for eight people and the animals that God spared on the ark. The circumstances that resulted in this global event was man’s wicked heart.  The Bible says in Genesis 6:5. The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.  Wickedness manifested through violence and both chaos and immorality was prevalent. It was so abhorrent to the Lord that He decided to annihilate every last creature.

The second example of God’s wrath was administered locally, on the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.   Both cities were extremely wicked and Genesis 13:13 states: Now the people of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the Lord, and Genesis 18:20-21, And the Lord said, “The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah is indeed great, and their sin is exceedingly grave. I will go down now, and see if they have done entirely according to its outcry, which has come to Me; and if not, I will know.”  We know adultery, homosexuality and host of other sins were rampant, and God’s judgment ensued through the hailing of brimstone and fire. As such, chaos is the byproduct of immorality which leads to societal destruction and God’s judgement.

Both in the global and local examples, the common denominator was rebellion against God.  Romans 1:21 states For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.  Knowing God and rejecting the Lord is the rebellion, and their act to insult the Lord through their actions will yield the wrath of God.  One thing that we must understand is that God’s nature is not impulsive, and He doesn’t resort to random acts of violence.  As a matter of fact, in Nehemiah 9:17 God’s nature is explained as, ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, abundant in kindness and he does not forsake. Just imagine how much man’s level of disregard for God was and how great the level of immorality and sin must have been prevalent with along with chaos that prompt the Lord to act in violence against His creation.  Here are the three levels of degradation that work in the order of progression to enact God’s wrath:

STEP ONE:  Rebellion as the precursor

In order for the process of God’s wrath to ensue, there must be a severance in the relationship between God and man.  Proverbs 16:18 sums it up exquisitely as it states, pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.  The process of moral collapse or immorality begins with pride and mankind’s pursuit to be like God.  Furthermore, the opposite of God’s order is chaos, therefore where there is immorality, there is also chaos. When Satan tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden, this was his main premise; eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil and you shall be like God. Thus, this has been the issue for thousands of years, including the reason why Satan was cast out of heaven.  He rebelled against the Lord along with 1/3 of angels in heaven. Satan’s objective is to counter God’s order, violate it, usher in chaos and achieve a collapse of society through immorality and sin. Since Satan is known as the god of this world, specifically, the prince of the power of the air, his dominion operates to destroy God’s creation.  He is the catalyst, influencing the ungodly to act in ways that is counter to God’s will.  Ephesians 2:1-3 Paul states, “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others”.

The course of action begins with the decision to reject the Lord.  It’s a conscious decision with a concrete act of denial.   It’s amazing how mankind can reject the Lord even though all of creation attests to His glory.   Paul the Apostle makes this point clear to the reader in Romans 1:18-24:

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

STEP TWO:  Action

The act of rebellion is subsequent to the decision to rebel.  Paul elaborates on the actions that typically occur as a part of the rebellion against God.  Here is list of actions from Romans 1:24-32

Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

Actions that are despicable to the Lord are also found in Galatians 5:19-21, The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Essentially, Paul the Apostle defines these actions as the acts of the flesh.  Once the demise is initiated by the enactment of the rebellion, it’s followed by a series of sinful activities.  It allows for a multitude of sin that rushes in like flood, destroying everything in the individuals life as wells as the society as a whole.

STEP THREE: End Result

The culmination of the acts of the flesh accelerates and accumulates into greater sin.  This is of course the moral degradation of mankind and the enactment of the wrath of God.

In the example of America, separation from God began arguably with the Baby-Boomer generation.   This generation defied God, engaged in the sexual revolution, began the cohabitants movement (living with a partner and not getting married), feminism (anti-men movement) and divorce.  Interestingly, divorce in the 1940s was 1 out of 1000 marriages, however, in the late 1970s the rate had increased to 5 out of 1000 marriages.  This number continued to grow up to 19 divorces per 1000 marriages in the 1990s.  As we can see, this number is significant because it represents a growth of 1900% in divorces between the 1940s and the 1990s.  With new data available, some sources purport that 50% of all marriages will result in separation or divorce.  The outcome of such immorality is that the children born in these marriages will suffer psychologically.  Furthermore, there are 11 million single parents and of this number, 80% are single mothers.  There are 4 out of 10 children born outside of marriage to single mothers.  Is there any doubt that the state of demise is due to this extraordinary rate?

The situation obviously has a snowball effect, as such, we have seen homosexuality and the transgender/pedophilia movement grow.  According to recent studies, about 30% of Millennials identify as LGBTQ and 39% of Gen Z identify in this same category.  Based on scripture, it’s evident that the outcome is a debased mind which is the enactment of God’s wrath.   Not to mention the gender issue which has exploded to astronomical levels, with up to 100 genders established.  The definition of debase is degradation, which is the process of mental breakdown, and that is what we’re witnessing.   When a man thinks he’s a woman, or when a healthy woman believes she should have been born blind, therefore she intentionally damages her eyesight to become blind, this validates scripture.   It’s as if every few months we witness an increased downgrade of reality where obesity is celebrated, children can choose their gender and pedophilia is “normal”.  Here are the verses from Romans 1:26-27:

For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

Ultimately, we are living in the End Times and these verses are not specific to a local area or a city/county/state/. Instead, this is a global demise, and it impacts all nations globally.  The situation will rapidly accelerate until the rapture of the Church takes place, which will be followed by the advent of the antichrist.  We are told in the Bible that Tribulation period will be 7 years, with the first 3 ½ years being relatively milder than the last 3 ½ years .  The latter portion of the Tribulation period, mankind will experience an unprecedented outpouring of God’s wrath.  Therefore, the Church must remain true to its mission by proclaiming the Gospel and serving in the Church.  We need to be as shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves.  Be wise in your actions and don’t fall victim to false worldviews.  Remain true to the Biblical worldview and if you haven’t already received the Lord, you need to do so now.

If you’re ready to receive Jesus pray this prayer: Lord Jesus I know that I am sinner and I ask you forgive me of my sins.  I believe that you were crucified for my sins and through your blood I have redemption and salvation.  Please come into my heart and I receive you as my God.  I pray in Jesus name. AMEN
